Let's Learn About Africa!
History:
Did you know … The continent of Africa is rich with the history of mankind. Some of the earliest archeological discoveries of human development have been found in Africa including ancient cave paintings many thousands of years old. Africa is the second largest continent in the world. It makes up about a fifth of the world's land. It is surrounded by large areas of water. There are 54 fully recognized and independent countries in Africa, and 14.7% (1.216 billion) of the world's population lives there. It is thought to be the continent where the first humans evolved.
Culture & Language:
Did you know … The culture in Africa is varied and manifold, consisting of a mixture of countries with various tribes that each have their own unique characteristic from the continent of Africa. African culture is expressed in its arts and crafts, folklore and religion, clothing, cuisine, music and languages. Expressions of culture are abundant within Africa, with large amounts of cultural diversity being found not only across different countries but also within single countries. Even though African cultures are widely diverse, they are also, when closely studied, seen to have many similarities; for example, the morals they uphold, their love and respect for their culture as well as the strong respect they hold for the aged and the important, i.e. kings and chiefs.
Algeria, Africa:
Did you know … Algeria (official name: People's Democratic Republic of Algeria) is a country in the Western part of North Africa. The capital city is Algiers. It is the largest country in Africa. A large part of southern Algeria is the Sahara Desert. The Aures and Nememcha mountain ranges are in the north. The highest point is Mount That. Official languages are Arabic and Berber. French is widely spoken too.
Famous Landmarks:
Did you know … Africa, the world's second-largest continent, is the place where modern humans originated from and our earliest civilizations thrived. Yet it retains an air of mystery, so much that even Africa's most famous landmarks seem remote treasures, awaiting discovery by only the most intrepid of travelers. Africa’s most intriguing wonders, both natural and man-made, will always welcome and reward visitors who are determined enough to witness them in person.
Famous Citizens:
Did you know … Africa not only has an expansive history and beautiful wildlife, the people of Africa also adds to the richness of its culture from political figures to movie stars.

African Foods!

Traditional African food is also sold at outdoor markets. In countries like Morocco and Algeria couscous is a popular dish served with meat and vegetables. In Western Africa it is common for people to grow and eat cassava, maize, mille and plantains.
