Happy Tuesday! Welcome to week 10 of our Kidz Klub Connection! I hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend and are ready for more fun and exciting virtual learning.
This month of May we have been travelling all over the world on Where in The World!! We are journeying to countries near and far, learning about their history, culture & language, cuisine, and other fun facts. We are being introduced to important citizens, visiting famous landmarks, and watching regional recipes being made.
I hope you are all well rested for this week’s adventures! We’re heading to 4 countries in the Middle East: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel.

History:
Did you know … Ancient Egypt was one of the greatest and most powerful civilizations in the history of the world. It lasted for over 3000 years from 3150 BC to 30 BC. The civilization of Ancient Egypt was located along the Nile River in northeast Africa. The Nile was the source of much of the Ancient Egypt's wealth. Egypt's history is split into several different periods according to the ruling dynasty of each pharaoh.

Did you know … Cairo, located on the Nile River is the capital of Egypt and is its largest city. The city name can be translated as the one who won. Cairo is sometimes called "Mother of the World". The great pyramids of Giza and the step pyramid of Sakkara are just outside of the city. Cairo is also the biggest city of the Arab World. It also is the city with the biggest urban area in Africa

Did you know … Egypt is the land of the pharaohs and one of the greatest civilizations in the world with the oldest temples, hieroglyphics, mummies, and pyramids. Egypt really has everything you could possibly want. It is full of iconic monuments and extraordinary landscapes. It has a rich history, a strong culture and civilization with beautiful beaches, and an exciting nightlife.

Did you know … Did you know Egyptians were one of the firsts in the world to play board games? They were also the first to forge peace treaties on record, use calendars, toothpaste, door locks and plow, invent eye-makeup, design world's first writing language (hieroglyphics), pop breath mints and shave and cut hair. That is right!

Egyptian cuisine makes heavy use of legumes, vegetables and fruit from Egypt's rich Nile Valley and Delta. It shares similarities with the food of the Eastern Mediterranean region, such as rice-stuffed vegetables, grape leaves, shawerma, kebab and kofta. Examples of Egyptian dishes include ful medames, mashed fava beans; kushari, lentils and pasta; and molokhiya, bush okra stew. Pita bread, known locally as eish baladi is a staple of Egyptian cuisine, and cheesemaking in Egypt dates back to the First Dynasty of Egypt, with domty being the most popular type of cheese consumed today.
