Hello Kidz Klub!
Happy Friday! We’ve made it through another week of learning from home. I am so proud of all of your efforts.
All week long, I’ve been sharing some of my family Easter traditions and recipes, as well as some of my fondest Easter memories from when I was a child. To end this week’s Easter and Passover theme, I’ve decided to dedicate today on Traditions. I’ve even asked my friends and colleagues from the Club to share with you some of their family Easter traditions and memories, which I added to the end of Learning Center. I also researched some new traditions that you and your family can try this year.
One of my favorite childhood book characters is Peter Rabbit. Did you know that for a short time, creator and author of Peter Rabbit, Thornton Burgess from Springfield, MA changed Peter’s name to Peter Cottontail for Burgess’s The Adventures of Peter Cottontail book series? In Miss Charisse’s Book Club, I am sharing a Peter Rabbit read aloud, as well as three fun cartoons I found on YouTube: each are about 40 minutes long.
When I asked Miss Hannah to share her family Easter tradition, I learned that she has Polish roots from her maternal side of the family. She shares how her grandmother used to make traditional Polish Borscht soup and Babka bread for Easter. For Master Chef, Junior, I am sharing Miss Hannah’s Babka bread recipe link.
Happy Easter everyone!
Be Safe. Be healthy. Enjoy!
Take good care.
Miss Charisse

Miss Hannah's Family Recipe for Babka Bread
Babka bread is a sweet braided bread or cake of Central European origin, popular in Poland, United States, and Israel (among other countries with a significant Polish and Jewish population).
It is filled with a variety of sweet fillings such as chocolate, cinnamon sugar, apples, sweet cheese, Nutella, or raisins, and is topped with a sugar syrup in order to preserve freshness and make the cake more moist. It is often topped with a streusel topping.
